Our Story

Jack and Kelsey met nearly 10 years ago at the West Asheville Tailgate Market. Their connection was instant—rooted in a shared love for the Land, a deep belief in community, and a curiosity about how people might live more beautifully and in tune with the earth. As their friendship grew into a magnetic partnership, so did the realization that their dreams weren’t just compatible—they were meant to be built together. Both with decades of pent-up visionary energy, they set out to bravely create something that honors the past and reaches toward imagined utopian futures.
Their skills fit together like pieces of a long-imagined whole. Kelsey brings her soulful eye for design, a resilient spirit, and a passion for food, farming, and beauty that nourishes both body and heart. Jack brings visionary strategic leadership, systems thinking, and a gift for authentic connection that holds people and ideas in purposeful motion. Both are educators and creatives at heart—curious, playful, and devoted to making ideas real. Terra Futura is the embodiment of that dream: a brave and joyful offering to the world, where people can rediscover what it means to live in harmony with each other and the Land.
They were married here at Terra Futura on September 23, 2023, the fall equinox. Baby Leo (short for Leander) was originally due on the spring equinox of March 23, 2024, but arrived early on March 13 so he could be a Pisces like Daddy. They have a beautiful blended gaggle of teens ranging in ages from 13 to 19 that willingly, but mostly begrudgingly, help out at Terra Futura Farm. Together, they love scouting new hiking spots and swimming holes on the Blue Ridge Parkway, practicing gratitude over good food, being mesmerized by fire, and imagining new possibilities.
